Ten months and Counting...

Elijah is now 10 months old! He has now officially been on the outside as long as he was on the inside! He is busy, busy, busy and his little personality is really starting to unfold.

The month started with a wonderful trip to Calgary, it was great seeing everyone and watching all the wee ones play. Elijah was very excited to meet his very first dog friend Kalu, and thought she was simply amazing! My sister, being the excellent teacher that she is, thought it would be great to teach Elijah how to say dog. She was very persistent! I will admit that he did mumble something that sounded something like dog...but I was not convinced. However when we came back to Vancouver he saw a dog, pointed and clear as day said "DOG". His first word. If I were a dog lover affectionado like my sister perhaps I would have been a tad more excited, but he is also gracing us with "DADA" and now "MAMA", so I am pleased.
He is standing for much longer now, he is strong and sturdy and has an adorable wide stance. We were having a lovely dinner party with the Foxes and he took his first step! Now he is up to four steps, and then quickly dives forward for someone to catch him. Well done little man you are growing so quickly!
Elijah now has four teeth, and sometimes uses them to eat, although I think he prefers paper or cardboard or just plain old water. We think he might also be allergic to apples. Bummer. The doctor said he might outgrow the allergies, so fingers crossed.
He also love to imitate mamma and talk on the phone, or talk to his sock, a block, a shoe, what ever is around. I love the sounds of his babbles.

He has perfected his relaxed floppy arm wave, although he usually waves at random times, rather than for hello or good bye. Oh and he is quite good at peek-a-boo now, and even lifts a blanket up and down to hide himself.  Elijah also is making new noises he clicks, smacks and squeaks...too funny.

He is sleeping for longer stretches at night and he loves to cuddle, he has even graced us with a few lazy day sleep in's. Love you... my sweet wonderful.

Mothers Day Bliss

The day started with a light breakfast, then Daddy surprised us with a babysitter so we could go to Yoga together. When we came home, all relaxed, we all ventured to Lighthouse park. We walked to the water, visited the lighthouse and enjoyed a fancy picnic complete with gooseberries, persimmons, brie, baguette and truffle almonds. After a beautiful walk through old growth forest we went to horseshoe bay village and took the ferry over to Bowen Island. It was so magical. Elijah fell asleep and we took the opportunity to eat at a beautiful open air restaurant. We took the ferry home late and watched the sun go down. Best first mothers day ever (well first Mothers Day with Eli on the outside).

 Thanks Boys...I love you.

Nine Months and Counting...

Elijah is now Nine Months old! It has been a busy month for us as a family, we are moving to a new house going to Calgary and Dan had three final papers due. Yikes. But we have all our ducks in row, our stuff is moved our suitcases are packed, house is clean, and Dan has finished his papers!! Elijah of course did not mind all the chaos he loved the new boxes to climb on and all the things to un-pack.
He also tried some new foods this month that he loved, first and foremost Blueberries were the biggest hit yet, and he also enjoyed green lentils. He was on a role with the solids, until he felt a bit under the weather the past few days and he is on a strict breast milk only diet...of course that was all his idea. .

He also discovered that drinking water from a cup is so much fun, even if most of it spills all over the place. I love the way he grips the cup with all his might.
Our little man has grown a fine new top tooth on the left side, this one seemed a bit harder on him than the bottom two. He of course needs to test them out regularly with some nice hard bites, I can hardly complain being a biter myself. What? Was I supposed to outgrow that?
As a side note, this month I had my first night out and Elijah stayed home with Daddy. My friend invited me to the Canucks game, she had box seats with a wonderful dinner and dessert service! I did not call home once, and had a blast! Oh and the Canucks won. Dan was a tad jealous that I am not a Hockey fan, but I brought him home some cream puffs so he was fine...and so was Elijah.
Elijah also had a brief period of pulling himself up to standing, letting go and free falling instead of his nice controlled let downs. Oh man. I am glad that this passed. Now he can stand on his own! It is only for a few seconds but we are excited none the less.
Elijah also loves to nap outside, be outside, anything outside and he is happy. He runs his little hand across the bushes as we walk and I always make sure to stop and let him smell the glorious flowers that are everywhere.
Oh and Elijah is just started to wave. Can he get any cuter? He can with his golden locks that seem longer each morning. I enjoy brushing it, because I have never had that luxury with my own hair. How did Dan and I produce a silky feather soft haired boy from our fuzz?
Well off to Calgary on Tuesday and when we get back we have our new place to move into...ekkk! So excited! It may be a tad rough living five blocks from the ocean, but I am willing to sacrifice.
