Graduation.

My darling Dan had his graduation ceremony this week! He is officially a Master! A Master with Honors! I am so very proud of him! He is a very hard worker, has an unshakable dedication to his studies and is so super intelligent. I feel so thankful that his studies allows him to be home so much (even if he is crazy busy, headphones on, and all I see is his face with the glow of computer screen) he still gets to be home with us. As he is halfway through his first year of his PHD, and he talks about doing a Post Doc, I used you think...will this ever be over? But now with eight months of baby in my belly and a two year old in tow the fact that I can holler to him whenever I need him, that we get to sit down to meals together, that he has such a big part of raising Elijah...I feel so happy and so fortunate to have an academic as a hubby. I look forward to the next graduation where you can wear that crazy Harry Potter outfit with the poofy hat and I can Call you "Dr. Manson"...even if it a long four years away.
Congratulations.
I love you.

Oh and for those of you who want to know what he does...check out his snazzy profile:

Autumn Days...

We have been enjoying the nice sunny Autumn days  and spending lots of time outside. We had a great walk down to Southlands farm, I love that we live so close! We are really working on our pronunciation of the word 'horse' and that they live in STABLES because Elijah keeps telling everyone that he wants to go see the whores, and that he wants to go to the whore house, feed the whores, put his hand out for the.... HORSE not WHORES!
Elijah has been super sweet and is excited for his baby to come in January. He read my belly a Thomas book...word for word, he is getting really good at memorising books. Oh and the other day he said "Mommy are you so tired? I will bring you a warm cup of tea" and came over with a little pink tea cup from his kitchen. Melt. He loves to take his baby doll for a walk outside and pushes his little stroller everywhere. I love that it keeps him focused, and we can walk so much further. Oh and the wings? Also his idea.

Happy Halloween!

Elijah what do you want to be for Halloween?
"A carousel keeper"
Hmmm how will I make that?!
What else could you be?
"A tiger"
Fun I could work with that...but...then
Dan took Elijah out and they found a dinosaur costume, Eli had to have it!
So I swallowed my pride, and had a Super Happy toddler that had a store bought costume.
Oh and I bought him some festive skeleton pyjamas and ...
"Mom I am a dinosaur fossil! Look at all my bones!!"
So he was a dinosaur fossil underneath his dinosaur costume.
Happy as can be.
We had a super fun night in Burnaby!
It started with some trick-or-treating, we even hit up the fire station and police hall. Then  a pit stop for some yummy Vietnamese food. Followed by a super fun adventure to the miniature railway!
We chugged around on real tiny steam engines,
and Elijah was beyond excited.
"Hello Mr. Conductor Man!! My name is Eli"
"These trains are too much fun!"
We finished it off by having hot chocolate and pumpkin cookies inside the train station,
which would have warmed us up if it was actually cold!
He fell sound asleep on the journey home.
My little dinosaur fossil who loves fire trucks, trains, and lemongrass chicken.

Happy 30th...

Dan's Birthday started on Friday with a clue 'Drink a coffee from your new mug...then go get the suitcase...we have to be at the airport by 1pm' He was stoked! Visions of far away islands, a trip to Vegas? We quickly packed and headed off. Apparently he started to get suspicious when I did not pack the toothbrushes "you NEVER forget the toothbrushes". Then he was really on to me when we went to arrivals instead of departures. We waited at the gate for his mystery guest. He was super surprised when his mom showed up. Next clue was in our suitcase 'Surprise weekend road trip! Your mom is taking Eli for the weekend'. I told him we were going to have a nice quiet dinner at home with his mom and leave in the morning.  Then 6:00pm rolled around and the door buzzer went off he answered the phone... "UPS"... he buzzed them up. Then all his friends came to the door "SURPRISE"!! I had planned a potluck party for him and he had no idea!!
Then the next clue was in the morning  'bring the passports we are off to America'.
We drove to Bellingham and stayed in a beautiful chalet in the woods, it was so quiet. The first day we visited the farmers market and ate yummy Ethiopian food, went to the most amazing apple orchard that had the biggest pumpkin patch ever,  and in the evening we dressed up and went to a late night dinner jazz show.
In the morning we slept in, watched a movie, then went for a Creole brunch complete with shrimp and grits, crawfish scramble, and for dessert Beignets. So good. We walked that all off around a beautiful park with an amazing waterfall. Then ate horchata popsicles around the historic district, did some American grocery shopping to take home, bought Dan some new clothes, and had another late night dinner at a brew pub- anything on a pretzel bun is so delicious!
It was our first time away without Eli, we did not need to pay attention to the time, ate whenever we felt like it, and slept SO hard. We cannot thank you enough Gramma Sandie!

Oh and Elijah surprised us with this beautiful artwork when we came home!
He made the elephant one for Daddy's Birthday then told Gramma he needed to make one for Mommy too!! So Sweet!
