Twelve Months and Counting...

Elijah is now Twelve months old, it seems like yesterday that he was a watermelon snug inside my womb. It seems like only an instant ago that he was an itty bitty baby that I stared at all day long. Seems like only a moment before that he looked back at me with those unfocused newly opened eyes.

Now he is tromping around and stealing floppy celery out of the fridge.... and spitting little bits on floor. It seems like magic how this little person has unfolded in such a small amount of time. Amazing. He has one new tooth on the bottom left, and another on the top trying to peak out. He has tried some new foods and he loves fish especially trout, but also salmon and snapper. His all time favourite is Kamut Puffs! He cannot get enough of them, seriously we find them everywhere.
He is loving the independence that walking has given him, and is always on the move. He also would prefer if you did not hold his hand, apparently where ever he is going he would like to go on his own . He also tries to put his own shoes on. Oh and he also is currently  mastering the art of playing the Glockenspiel. Elijah is now signing for water, but after he takes a drink he keeps his mouth open so most of it ends up down his shirt.
We were at the library looking at books and he did the sign for potty, and so I took him and he peed! We are thrilled with this sign, and he has used it with success a few times now. So great. He also learned the sign for finished. Today he used it when Dan was changing him into his p.j's- okay dad I am done here. Speaking of bedtime Eli will only let Dad put him to bed now (a welcome change from the previous 11 months), and they read and sing until sweet slumber. His favourite books are In a people house and I'll teach my dog 100 words and his favourite song is On top of Spaghetti.  If Dan stops singing it, Eli will clap -like he is saying- come on Dad keep going. Too cute.
Eli is also making this ridiculous squinty face before we try to take a photo of him, apparently he is preparing himself for our flash. I have way too many photos of him doing this. Oh and he has really started dancing, he pumps his arms up in the air just like Clara. He has fallen in love with music and claps along happily.
Wow Twelve months have flown by. You are still our same happy busy baby....hmm toddler? When do they get that title? Not yet right??
We love you.

1st Birthday...

Our baby is one year old. Crazy.
We had a a party planned for Granville Island Spray park on Sunday....
but it was very rainy so we had a last minute pool party instead.
Elijah had a blast! He was so happy all day, and ate so much food!
Dan and I stayed up till 2:16am Calgary time (Elijah's time of birth) and my hubby served me sips of water through a straw...just like he did when I was in labor.
I might have cried just a little bit.
On Monday (his actual Birthday) we all slept in till 10:30am.
ate breakfast on our deck in the garden
(slept some more)
made a picnic for the park
and had a stellar time blowing the biggest bubbles ever,
playing with the parachute and eating too many cherries.
We love you so much Elijah Xavier.

Eleven Months and Counting...

Elijah is now eleven months old! I cannot believe he is almost one year old, it goes by so quickly. His hair grows everyday and it starting to curl, he is so handsome.
We love to brush our teeth together, he does his for a bit, then does mine, and then finally I do his. Although sometimes he tries to yank mine out of my mouth and if succesful he paints the mirror with toothpaste.
We have a beautiful park by our new house, and we like going before bed time. Elijah is really starting to play and can go down the slide all by himself ! It is a good way to tire him out before he goes to sleep.
Elijah loves books, he will sit all on his own take a book of the shelf and flip through the pages. He is also more content sitting with me and Dan to read stories now. So sweet.
And for some exciting news...Eli is walking! Each day he took a few more steps, seven, eight, ten, then one day when I was in headstand he was determined to come and get me and took seventeen steps in a row! Now he is fully walking around, turning, and standing back up once he falls down. I watch him in disbelief , all of a sudden he is a little boy. Today he walked over to the bedroom door, opened it, and walked right over to me in the kitchen!
One of Elijah's favorite parts of the day is making esspresso with his Dad. If he hears the grinder, he bolts right over and must be involved. Dan uses it as an excuse to make another coffee.
One of my favorite moments during the day is when Elijah first wakes up from a nap and his head is very heavy, he lifts it up, but has to lie it back down again, up, no back to sleep. It is hard to explain but it is so cute! He also turns around to go off the bed (we have a very low bed) and can now climb on by himself too.
He is stacking blocks, putting lids on containers, brings his finger to his lips and goes ba ba ba ba, fake laughing when we laugh, exploring and getting bigger by the day.
He is pooping in the potty, and I had a full month without changing a poopy diaper (but as I was boasting to a friend he filled his diaper). Sometimes he even walks over to the toliet. With all of his new learning we have missed quite a few pees...but there is always next month!  We are so in love with our chatty little character who never fails to flirt and charm everyone he passes.
